SPARC (Scottish Prisoner Advocacy and Research Collective) is a research and advocacy collective on Scottish imprisonment comprising researchers at all stage of career and many with long-term, personal experience of imprisonment. We come from universities across Scotland.

SPARC writes collectively because we are committed to social justice and inclusivity. You can read more about who we are, what we do and our aims and values on our About SPARC page.

A large part of our work is pushing for change for the people, families, and communities most impacted by imprisonment. In our Comment section you can read our blogs on current criminal justice issues, as well as about our evidence submissions to the Scottish Parliament. This includes a number of posts on the current Covid-19 pandemic.

We are also monitoring the media coverage of the Covid-19 crisis in our in our prisons. You can explore this here.

We work to amplify the voices of those most affected by the criminal justice system in Scotland – if you have an issue or concern that you think we should be working on, please get in touch through or Contact page, email scot.prisoner.advocacy@gmail.com or connect with us on Twitter @ScotSparc.
